EOS Ventures, a new beginning.
  March 06, 2008

Local wind project inspires new business formation.

Hancock, MA- The announcement was made today of the formation of EOS Ventures, LLC.  Tyler Fairbank, former President of Berkshire Economic Development Corporation, a partner in the new firm will serve as CEO. Co-owners along with Tyler Fairbank are Brian H. Fairbank and Joseph O’Donnell who will both serve in a business advisory capacity.

The primary focus of EOS Ventures is within the renewable energy industry, providing renewable on-site power generation solutions to large-scale energy users including businesses, municipalities, schools and farms.

EOS Ventures has spawned from the successful Zephyr project at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort. In 2007, Jiminy Peak was the first privately held company in the nation to install a megawatt class turbine in order to generate its own power.  Brian Fairbank, CEO of Jiminy Peak noted, “When we installed our turbine there was no roadmap, no company had done this before.  We gained such knowledge during our own process and now want to fulfill a need for others.”  Since the installation of the Jiminy Peak turbine, Jiminy Peak management has received numerous calls from other companies and organizations also looking for ways to reduce their energy consumption from the grid.  With such a strong demand for alternative energy sources in the nation and a requisite for the “how to” and funding, EOS Ventures, LLC was formed.

“Clearly the escalations of energy costs are creating challenges for large scale energy users” stated Tyler Fairbank “and on-site energy generation and renewable technologies offers real solutions.  The team, experience base, and business model of the Zephyr project at Jiminy Peak is the basis for EOS’s entry into this market. Although wind projects will be our initial focus, bio-fuels, bio-mass, and other renewable technologies are part of the larger business design for EOS.”

The company will be located in Hancock, MA on site at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort.
EOS has established a formal relationship with Sustainable Energy Developments, Inc.(SED) of Ontario New York as its general contractor for wind projects. SED is a full service developer of decentralized wind energy projects as well as a wind resource specialist for utility-scale wind power developers throughout the northeastern United States.
